The Place 


Kuala Sepetang ( 十八丁),  previously known as Port Weld - named after the former Governor, Frederick Weld. It is a fishing village located along the Sepetang river, the area's fresh and saltwater inundation suitable for mangrove trees and created  rich ecosystem and important breeding ground for marine animals. 

It's about 18km from Taiping town and driving normally takes about half an hour. Along the way to Kuala Sepetang you can see mangrove trees on the right. Kuala Sepetang also famous for its charcoal made from mangrove trees, 

most of the high quality charcoal is exported to Japan.

How to go:
If you are from the north of North-South Expressway, exit Kamunting Toll and turn right into Simpang Empat then follow Kuala Sepetang road sign and you will reach the destination. It's just 18km.
 If you are from the south of North-South Expressway, exit Changkat Jering Toll and turn left  into Simpang Empat then follow Kuala Sepetang road sign.

Food
This small town of Kuala Sepetang is located near sea. There is a small population of Chinese staying around here. Besides some coffee shop selling noodles in the morning as breakfast to the locals, there are also a few seafood restaurant that are frequented by their regular customers from far. These restaurant provide lunch and dinner. There is also hawker centre that selling noodles and snacks for the afternoon tea, e.g. ais kacang, etc. You can buy dried fish, prawn, prawn crackers, etc. at the shops and hawker centre.
Mee Udang
There are a few famous malay stores at the road side on the way reaching the town. Most of the time, you can see about one hundred people are eating mee udang (prawn noodle) at the same time. This is another attraction to Kuala Sepetang.
